The Warrensburg Central School District Board of Education will hold a public hearing in order to hear public comment on whether or not the Board should confer the 10% real property school tax exemption to volunteer firefighters and ambulance workers pursuant to certain conditions, on Monday, December 11, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. in the Library–Media Room of the Jr./Sr. High School. WHEREAS, Section 466-a of the New York State Real Property Tax Law authorizes school districts to provide a 10% real property school tax exemption to volunteer firefighters and ambulance workers pursuant to certain conditions; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Education desires to provide such tax exemption;
WHEREAS, the Board of Education wishes to authorize a 10% real property school tax exemption to volunteer firefighters and volunteer ambulance workers on their respective real property used exclusively for residential purposes and located within the community served by the respective volunteer organizations, and has served as a volunteer firefighter or volunteer ambulance worker for at least two (2) years. Furthermore, volunteer firefighters or volunteer ambulance workers with at least twenty (20) years of such volunteer service shall receive a lifetime 10% real property school tax exemption as long as they maintain the property as their primary residence in the Warrensburg Central School District, and such exemption shall be applicable to a surviving unremarried spouse of a volunteer firefighter or volunteer ambulance worker that served in that capacity for at least twenty (20) years and obtained such exemption prior to such volunteer’s death.
NOW, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED that the Warrensburg Central School District Board of Education will hold a public hearing in order to hear public comment on whether or not the Board should confer the 10% real property school tax exemption to volunteer firefighters and ambulance workers pursuant to certain conditions, on Monday, December 11, 2023 commencing at 6:00 p.m. in the Library – Media Room of the Jr. – Sr. High School, 103 Schroon River Rd, Warrensburg New York.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the aforesaid matter will be presented to the residents and taxpayers of the Warrensburg Central School District for public comment to the Board of Education so that all persons interested in the subject can be heard at such time and place.
