Voters Approve WCSD 2024-25 School Budget

On Tuesday, May 21, Warrensburg residents voted to approve the district’s proposed $23.74 million budget for the 2024-25 school year that carried a 2% tax levy increase and an increase in spending of 3.34% compared to the current year. The proposed $23.74 million budget focuses on funding programs that give students pathways to careers in the trades, college, and the military as well as the continuation of recently added CTE classes, clubs, and extracurricular activities district-wide.

“We would like to thank the Warrensburg community for their continued support of our school district,” said Superintendent Amy Langworthy. “The Warrensburg Central School District is committed to preparing our students for whichever path they choose to pursue, and the approval of the budget will allow us to continue to do that. It is affirming to see that our community stands behind the goals we have laid out for the 2024-25 school year.”

The community voted to approve the transportation proposals on the ballot. This will allow the district to lease three 66-passenger buses for a five year term and purchase a transit van.

The community also voted to include work on the Bus Garage and Maintenance Building in the scope of the approved 2022 Capital Project. Work on the Bus Garage and Maintenance Building had been discussed and planned before the initial Capital Project vote but was inadvertently left off of the original proposition for voter approval. The original $13,500,000 cost approved by the voters will not change as the plans included both buildings.

There were two open seats on the Board of Education on the ballot. The community voted for Benjamin Reynolds and Kristen Constantineau to fill these seats. The term for the seats runs from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2028. The two seats are currently held by Doug West and Elaine Cowin. Congratulations to these two individuals. The district is looking forward to these two individuals working on behalf of our school and community.
